I’ve always been a bit of a Flash game junkie. Before my Web Design days they were all I used a computer for. They were also what partly led me to Flash animation & Actionscript which again, then led me to where I’m sat now – Web Design. In this post I’ll show you 5 of my favourite games with some truly stunning graphics and really addictive gameplay!

Canabalt

The old school 1-bit days of gaming are making a smashing return in 2009 and Canabalt is the stand-out one. It’s beautifully simple gameplay, executed perfectly with leave you tapping away your afternoons.

Thing-Thing Series

The gory and violent Thing-Thing series has always been a favourite of mine, the graphics on the last few games stunned me and the gameplay throughout the series is just too addictive for words. You have to hand it to Sean McGee (aka Weasel) that he is one talented Flash Game Engineer.

Fancy Pants

When I first played this game I nearly pee’d myself with joy. The graphics are blissfully simple, yet executed perfectly. The gameplay feels very smooth and seems to flow beautifully. At the risk of sounding a little more sycophantic it is by far one of my favourite 2D games of all time and the creator Brad Borne certainly deserves a pat on the back for this work of art.

Mirrors Edge 2D

Another Borne game, based upon the popular PS3 game, Mirrors Edge. Again, superb Graphics and addictive gameplay! :D

Alien Hominid

While I found gameplay on this game a little tricky (probably just me), it certainty is one of the most respected Flash games out there which has expanded to Xbox Live. The game was created by The Behemoth – a collaboration between, well respected Artist Dan Paladin and Newgrounds founder Tom Fulp. The artwork presented is truly inspirational and the gameplay (despite me finding it a little difficult) is pretty fun and addicting as you slice and shoot your way through numerous enemies!
